ATTOSWITCH kick-off meeting
The Nanoelectronics Group of the DPIA at the University of Udine participated on February 21-22 in Modena at the kick-off meeting of the European project AttoSwitch (Dirac cold-source transistor technologies towards attojoule switching).
AttoSwitch is a project aligned with the goals set by the European Union through the European Chips Act and aims to develop a new "cold-source" transistor technology capable of achieving extremely low switching energies (4 attojoules), enabling the miniaturization and integration process outlined by Moore's Law.
During the Kick-off meeting, each project partner presented its expertise in the simulation, fabrication, and experimental characterization of electronic devices based on bi- and three-dimensional semiconductors. In particular, the Nanoelectronics Group at DPIA will work on the development of numerical models to simulate and optimize the new devices.
The project duration is 42 months and it is funded by the European Union with Grant Agreement no.101135571, with a contribution of 3.884.248,75 €. The project will leverage the expertise of the different consortium partners: Università degli Studi di Udine, Alma Mater Studiorum - Università di Bologna, Università degli Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia, Interuniversitair Micro-Electronica Centrum, Gesellschaft fur Angewandte Mikro und Optoelektronik mit Beschränkterhaftung AMO GmbH, International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory, Lunds Universitet, IBM Research GmbH
